Shadd Piehl Bio
Shadd Piehl is licensed as a private investigator in North Dakota, and has worked as an investigator primarily in Fargo ND for both W. T. Butcher & Associates of Bismarck and Great Plains Claims of Grand Forks ND since 1994. He has conducted general investigations, with extensive experience conducting urban as well as small-town and rural surveillance. He also specializes in field interviews, public records research and process serving. He is currently based in Bismarck ND.
In a parallel career, Shadd is a teacher. He has been an English instructor at Rasmussen College in both Fargo and Bismarck ND since 2001, and teaches both residential and online courses in English, English composition, and professional communications. Previously, he taught high school English at Casselton and Belcourt ND.
Shadd was awarded a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Writing from Minnesota State University, Moorhead MN, in 2005, and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and English Education from North Dakota State University in Fargo ND.
North Dakota Poet Laureate Larry Woiwode appointed Shadd as North Dakota Associate State Poet Laureate in 2004 and he continues to serve in that capacity. In 2002, 1995 and 1993, Shadd was Featured Poet at the Annual Cowboy Poet Gathering in Elko NV. Shadd is a free lance writer for a variety of state and regional publications, and is a published poet. Active in community service as well, Shadd is an elected member of the Apple Valley School Board and lead singer in the Menoken-based band, Frog Point Landing.
