Bill Butcher Bio

A former FBI agent, Bill Butcher is an entrepreneur, having started up and sold several businesses since leaving the Bureau. He has been a licensed private investigator in North Dakota since 1982. For over 25 years, W.T. Butcher & Associates, Ltd. has been the bedrock for all of Bill's business ventures.

Bill currenty serves as chair of the North Dakota Private Investigation & Security Board, as a regional director of the National Council of Investigation and Security Services (NCISS), as president of Bismarck's Farwest Rotary Club, and on the board of directors of Friends of Lake Sakakawea. He also sings with the Bismarck Mandan Elks Mens' Chorus, and was cited as the Navy Recruiting District Assistance Council (RDAC) Outstanding Member in a 20-state area. Bill has served as president or chair of various local, state and national symphony organizations, and as commodore of the Dam Yacht Club.

Career highlights include:

Served as North Dakota state director and lobbyist for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) from 1998 through 2007, and continues to advocate and lobby for various interest groups.
President of AdMed, Ltd. and its subsidiaries, Butcher Testing Services, Ltd. and ChemReview, Ltd., all providers of a broad range of drug testing services nationwide, from January 1991 through December 1994.
Owned, operated and sold court reporting, private security, and repossession businesses.
In January 1991, he was designated a Certified Fraud Examiner by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Spent two years as an independent petroleum landman.
As a Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) he specialized in fraud, discrimination and crimes committed on Indian reservations, and handled liaison between the FBI and Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Saskatchewan.
Served on active duty as a U.S. Naval Reserve officer, qualified as Officer of the Deck underway, and attained the rank of lieutenant.
Earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and psychology from Albion College in Michigan, and did post-graduate study in business at Washington DC’s American University.
